‘Petrichor ’is a four track EP by producer and visual artist Ans M (Annie MacKinnon). The record explores memories and stories relating to bodies of water, particularly rain and its smell, and is distinguished by its heavy textural sound and commanding use of tempo.

Opening track ‘dust devils’ buries a haunting melody amongst viscous synths and buzzing percussion, whilst ‘haptic wetness on your waterproof skin’ orbits rich organic sounds around lurching percussion capable of throwing even the most open minded listeners.

Club-ready excursions such as ‘storm seeding’ contrast murky bass spasms with shimmering, resonant chords slung over a charged percussive backline. Final track ‘blue celeste’ condenses the record’s intentions into a cinematic farewell. Winding reversed sounds dominate the landscape as though one is falling back through the last 14 minutes as glimpses of Ans M’s signature sound flash in and out of sight.

‘Petrichor’ is released on the 17th of January via TT
