Debuting on London-based Label TT, Matters of Ascension is a 6-track collaborative EP by Thammudu & Mishti.

Sonically haunted by the ghostly remains of identity, the project questions the potential and limitations of spirituality to leverage material reality. In a startling bout of torment, “New Moon” introduces a nightmarish soundtrack of mundane engagements with the self.

Foreshadowed by the screeches of painted storks, the disintegrated and danceable “Body Negativity” greets the listener with a familiar foreboding acknowledgement of flesh and bone. In “The Fiery Wheel”, the duo situates a cynical reading of surrealist anti-colonial poetry atop a hypnotic rhythm of clanging metal and disembodied voices. Culminating in a blissful summery haze, the project concludes with the Marx-inspired “From Earth to Heaven”.

‘Matters of Ascension’ is released on the 28th of February via TT
